During the spring of 2023, I had the opportunity to work on the feature film S.A.R.A., which marked my second collaboration with director Juan Manuel Martínez since the short film ‘Sin Vuelta Atrás’ in 2018.
Just like the previous one, this project is characterized as a crime thriller with certain supernatural elements. Because of that, I decided to revisit some of the musical language I had already used in No Way Back, while expanding the sound palette — adding more hybrid elements blended with orchestra, Asian percussion instruments, and even daring to perform some action cues on electric guitar. Additionally, since this was a feature-length film, it allowed me to develop a more varied thematic language for the different characters and situations.
Ultimately, I believe this work demonstrates the progression I’ve made since ‘Sin Vuelta Atrás’ in 2018, supported by the experience I’ve gained as a composer through working on numerous projects.
